Every now and then, the Danish singer-songwriter Agnes Obel disappears entirely from the face of the earth. Only to reappear a few years later with an intimate album that leaves everyone on earth speechless. Myopia, her first release on the renowned Deutsche Grammophon label, is hardly an exception to that rule. Pitchfork described the album as “ghostly chamber pop experiments that form their own foggy landscape, inviting you into a creeping mist where vocals and piano smear together.” In short: Obel still reigns as the queen of melancholy. But does anyone have a problem with that?
