For those who still don’t realize that Compro Oro is the most exotic Belgian jazz band of the millennium, the five have named their latest record – take the hint! – Suburban Exotica. Though you really have to put a full wad of cotton wool in your ears to not detect the Latin American influences on their debut album Transatlantic. Or the ethnic and psychedelic sounds on their equally superb EP Bombarda. Or the way they bring all the above together and blend it with African and Middle Eastern instruments on Suburban Exotica. Add to that a guest appearance by Joachim Cooder (son of), not to mention the producer skills of Dijf Sanders and … Well, did we already say that Compro Oro is the most exotic Belgian jazz band of the millennium?
