The third album is said to be the most difficult for most bands: the make-it or break-it album, they say. If that is so, then TaxiWars did not release a make-it record last year with Artificial Horizon; the band of Tom Barman and Robin Verheyen smashed it! ‘Intelligent, accomplished and unpretentious”, the British paper The Observer wrote. ‘A welcome addition to the party.’ De Morgen did not thing ‘that they would ever surpass their second, fantastic album Fever’. But: ‘Boy, were we wrong!’ And then there were the reviews from the live shows. Like the one from Humo: ‘TaxiWars mercilessly blew all the windows and doors in the AB out of their frames.’ A jazz band that plays the AB into the ground!? Let there be no doubt: it’s jazz, Jim, but not as we know it.
