Okay, he lives in Brussels now, but even if he had stayed in West Flanders, the otherwise unbelievably dominant Brussels hip-hop scene still would have stood in awe watching the rise of Brihang. With Casco, the rapper delivered one of the albums of the year, parked his song ‘Steentje’ in seventh place on its first round in the Radio Belpop 100, and sold out everything that could be sold out (including the last edition of Pukkelpop, although he didn’t quite do that on his own). But most remarkable of all remains the integrity of his raps. Or as Brihang himself says: ‘I don’t rap for sales; I rap from my soul.’ Response from Knack Focus: ‘Kate Tempest could have just as easily been called Katrina Storm.’ Well, yes!
