13 July

Kamasi Washington really doesn’t need introducing after his performance last year, but we’ll give it our best shot: this evocative figure will take you on a journey through his personally created jazz world. Honestly? You just have to be there. Hoera. Which is exactly what went through the minds of the members of the eponymous group when they won the 2016 Young Jazz Talent award. So, for the occasion, they are performing an exclusive project with electronica producer Hiele. And, if we get our wish, they’ll hang around for a short jam session with STUFF. Because this Ghent favourite is coming to regale you with their long-awaited second album. Finally! For those of you who can’t get enough of the sound that we’ve got planned for you today, just relax because Robert Glasper Experiment will be taking up the baton and sending you into total ecstasy with a mix of gospel to R&B.

Still need even more variety? Then just head over to the Garden Stage. Be careful though, or Makaya McCraven will have you heading back out onto the dance floor. For those of you really needing a little break, Shabaka & The Ancestors will take you down a lazy river of spiritual jazz heavily influenced by African sounds. People, pull on your toughest pair of trainers because we predict lots and lots of dancing.

Stay tuned
