The Limburg Bilzen-born Anthe Huybrechts - or Anthe for short - developed an unconditional love for acoustic piano as a child. Her methods of playing and writing provided a robust foundation throughout her classical musical training in her younger years but were shaken up somewhat during her three-year bachelor course at PXL Music in Hasselt. There, the young woman from Limburg crawled inside the piano, quite literally, with microphones and various other objects to prepare her music (a method also used by one of her influences, Iceland's multi-instrumentalist Ólafur Arnalds) and then combine it with her voice and effects.

Nowadays, Anthe can mainly be found in Ghent, where she is completing her Master’s degree in pop piano at KASK. New influences, further experience and self-discovery feed into her musical world and lead to an intense, intriguing, very personal sound with fairytale melodies and intimate lyrics in which influences such as Agnes Obel, AURORA and even Björk can be heard. With her velvety voice, relaxed piano accompaniment, and 'prepared’ piano sounds, Anthe will immerse you in her hope-filled dream.

This concert is a collaboration between Gent Jazz and the Jazz, Pop and Music Production courses of KASK & Conservatorium (HOGENT - Howest).
