Two years ago, Brussels-based Adja released her debut EP 'IRONEYE’. An artist to watch, her single 'Told You So’ now has over 1.8 million streams. This spring, she will be releasing her long-awaited debut album 'Golden Retrieve Her’ (Sdban Ultra), an event that she will be celebrating with a sold-out release party on 9 May in the Ancienne Belgique in Brussels. The album, which she co-composed with her partner in crime and guitarist Alexis Nootens, consists of 11 linked stories that look at how capitalism influences our most intimate relationships. Adja combines her skills as a performer, creator and singer, using her voice and knack for storytelling to tackle deep issues with humour and generosity.

Drawing on her background in theatre and jazz with a deep-rooted passion for R&B, soul and gospel, Adja has developed a unique signature style with a warm, vibrant and organic sound. Influences include D’Angelo, Erykah Badu, Hiatus Kaiyote and Lauryn Hill. Her music is imbued with delicate power, setting a rich and beautifully intriguing atmosphere. In 2022, Adja won the Sound-Track talent competition. Later that year, the Flemish newspaper De Morgen tipped her as one of six Belgian music talents to watch out for in 2023. Her music has been compared to the spiritual neo soul of artists like Erykah Badu, and her voice is reminiscent of Lianne la Havas’s velvety alto.

This spring, she is releasing her debut album 'Golden Retrieve Her’, working with producer Adam Scrimshire, who was showcased in The Guardian as one of three crucial music producers in the UK today, alongside Swindle and Info. Also on board was well-known Belgian producer, mixer and musician Koen Gisen. The pair helped her hone her own production skills.

'A Moment’ (December 2024 and the first single to be released from the album) is a gentle plea for some time to catch your breath in today’s hectic world, a subject Adja approaches with humour. The second single, 'Sucking on My Emphatitties’, challenges the audience with a blistering raucous outburst. Besides showcasing Adja’s amazing voice, 'Golden Retrieve Her’ reveals that she is also a force of nature, combining her many talents in electrifying live shows.
