band

Over the past 15 years, Lambchop has become one of the most exciting bands within the Americana genre. They do this without surprises, and leave no doubt as to the fact, which is a compliment for the band. With their subtle mix of country, rock, pop, folk and soul, the group centered by Kurt Wagner has released 10 albums.

Year by year, Lambchop has developed into a musical collective built around front man and creative mastermind Kurt Wagner. The band’s line-up changes every tour, but generally consists of about ten musicians. The driving force behind Lambchop has one of the most recognizable, warm and serene voices and is one of the best song writers of his generation. Wagner writes ironic lyrics in which the melancholy is never far away, and Wagner reveals himself as a wonderful narrator. A few years ago, his life hung by a thread, but Kurt Wagner overcame the illness and then sang about his experiences on the album Damaged.

In the mid-80s, Kurt Wagner began making music in his home town, Nashville, Tennessee, with the band Posterchild. It took more than five years before people discovered them and they could leave the bars and pubs of Nashville behind. The group was renamed Lambchop and several albums followed, of which the releases Nixon and Is A Woman (2002) were probably the most successful ones. Last year, Lambchop also delivered a nice sequel to their album series by releasing the album OH (Ohio).

The view that Wagner has on success is also very different from what is usually heard: \"Success is not an issue for us. You can’t measure the level of creative efforts by success; it is no analysis of what it is. And so, it isn’t something I care about.” That’s clear. Lambchop wants to  record good music and nothing else.
